I have bought many of the higher priced name brands, everything from kicker to jl. but the one problem that I had with these are they are so expensive that I couldnt afford the 1200 watt amp that these companies made(sometimes being more then 1200 dollars.) so I always had to get the 500 watt 400 dollar amp. but I kept blowing them and couldnt turn them up without distortion due to the much lower watts. well finally after blowing my other amp recently, I decided to go with a cheap temporary replacement until I could afford something better. The problems I have had with the cheaper amps is that they take alot of power and they clip, overheat and cutt off at high volumes. but I havent had that problem yet with this amp, I am pushing 2 phoenix gold subs with a max power of 1600 watts combined. and I love it, now the sound quality is a little lower then normal but most people will not even be able to tell, and its not even a big enough difference to bother me. so if you want some serious spl then take this amp home. its a little big but mounted nicely to the back of my speakerbox. Not the prettiest amp and it doesnt have all the fancy controls, but hey its a 140 dollar amp that gets the job done better then most 400-500 dollar amps. I havent even had to add an external fan to this amp like I have had to for most other more expensive amps. purchase this amp with a 4 guage install kit, and maybe even a 2 farad capacitor and you should not have any problems at all. but I can see it dimming the headlights a little bit without a capacitor, but it shouldnt bee too big of a deal.
