I'm usually in the back of the caravan when we go on our long ATV trips, mostly because I have the utility a.k.a. "mule" quad, and that means I get more than my share of dust. I always wear combination goggle/sunglasses and usually a dust mask inside a standard MX style helmet. However, I liked the idea of a flip-down visor to cut the wind and bugs, and to keep most of the dust out. Since I'm generally not traveling at highway speeds on my quad, I wasn't too worried about wind noise that others had complained about in their reviews. I just wanted to keep the dust out of my face and nose. So, I decided to try this helmet. I'm glad I did!

First thoughts were that it was fairly well made. Not a Shoei, but certainly not a $19.95 cheapee either. Seemed a little heavier and larger than other helmets, so it really makes you look like an alien head or a deep sea diver. But mostly I noticed that, although the size overall was correct, the cheek pads were waaay too narrow. I ended up having to order the XL cheek pads and snap them into the large helmet to get it to fit correctly. (As a note, I've owned and used many full-faced helmets and never had this issue before, so I have to believe there's a physiometric mismatch in their pad selection. That's why they get 4 stars instead of 5.)

However, once I rode with this helmet, I really liked it. It worked well against wind at speed and bugs flying into my helmet at any speed on the trail. Plus, it cut the dust back enough that I didn't feel the need for a dust mask. And it was a God-send when we got caught in a mountain downpour. The curved shield shed enough of the rain drops so that I could still see fairly well, while my face and head stayed nice and dry.

I highly recommend this for ATV riding. I think I'm going to purchase a tinted visor for it and give that a try.
