Dual Electronics L12SW Home Subwoofer Review

A friend of mine purchased this sub before he asked me my opinion about it. Sorry but these two 5 star reviews are very inaccurate. Every one is entitled to there opinion so these two individuals seem to like this sub.

I on the other hand am running 4 Definitive Studio Monitor 450's for my front and my rear speakers. I also have a Polk CS-10 that gets the job done, although I would have liked the Polk CS-20 it would not fit on my top shelf.

As far as powered sub go this is a really bad unit. It's enclosure is too thin and resonates like crazy. The 12" driver is very weak indeed and can actually begin to distort way to soon similar to my Polk PSW10" sub!

This is a very cheap sub and there are subs out on the market like the Dayton Audio 1200 12" 120 watt powered sub that only cost you about $20 more than this unit, and will actually out perform some of the much more expensive subs like the Polk 125!

It even looks like the Polk 125 with it's rounded edges and downward firing port that really reduces port noise. I just can't see how anyone can call this cheap Duel Electronics 12" sub anything near good! It has a very bad low end frequency response and that's the most important thing for a powered sub. The Dayton Audio 1200 will get down to a very clean 25 H.Z.! This Duel Electronics is lucky to get below 35 H.Z.

My friend sold his sub for half price to his brother and bought the Dayton Audio 1200 after hearing mine. It is hooked up via the (LFE) port and sounds great for music with it's very fast driver response and movies come alive with this very well built, good looking, and heavy (weighing in at 43L.B.s) enclosure!

It truly shows how weak this Duel E. sub really is. Please stay away from it! Read my review on the Dayton Audio 1200 on Amazon. It will explain in detail how good it really is for a price of only $140, including shipping and a free 45 day trial period for a full return refund if your disappointed. Trust me you won't be just as long as you stay away from this very cheaply built Dual Electronics 12" sub! S. Level
